PEBTF Trustees Announce Benefit Enhancements for Active Members6/12/2024 The Board of Trustees recently announced enhancements to the current Plan of Benefits for employees and their eligible dependents. Effective August 1, 2024: - Eligibility – Reduced Waiting Periods and Costs for New Hires and Dependents:
- New hires continue to receive medical coverage only as of their date of hire, but can enroll themselves in prescription drug benefits during their first 30 days of employment for an additional buy-up contribution. Currently, new hires who want to enroll in prescription drug benefits pay the buy up for 90 days.
- New hires can enroll their dependents in medical and prescription drug benefits after 30 days of employment without paying an additional buy-up contribution. The current waiting period is 90 days.
- Employees and their enrolled dependents will receive prescription drug and supplemental benefits (vision, dental and hearing aid benefits) at no additional buy-up cost after 30 days of employment instead of the current 90 days.
- Medical Benefits: Inpatient Hospice will now be covered under the medical benefit.
- Dental Benefits: The PEBTF’s dental plan’s network of dentists, provided by United Concordia, will expand to access an additional 1,022 dentists in Pennsylvania through their Elite Plus network.
Effective January 1, 2025: Additional enhancements to the dental and vision benefits will be effective January 1, 2025: - Dental Benefits:
- Annual plan maximum will be increased from $1,500 to $2,000 (preventive and diagnostic dental services will not count toward the annual plan maximum)
- Orthodontic lifetime maximum will be increased from $1,750 to $2,250
- Dental implants will be covered at 60% plan allowance
- Vision Benefits:
- Eyeglass frames allowance will be increased from $150 to $175
- Transition lenses will be covered at a reimbursement of $65 for single vision and $70 for bifocal/trifocal lenses
